Shop My Stash: Bathtime.

I have mentioned over and over on both my blogs how:

  • I am a massive hoarder.
  • Have far too many products
  • I am a shopaholic
so I decided something had to change. A while ago I made the decision not to buy any more beauty products (skincare, haircare, makeup, body wash you name it) until I had got through my massive stash. This was all well and good but I soon realised that just not buying anything wasnt enough. I have far more than I will ever use and I need to go through the products I have and get rid of things that just aren't working for me. Thats where these Shop My Stash come in.

Frocktober: Where Have You Gone?

Note to self: surgeries and infections tend to get in the way of plans.

I had planned for there to be 31 posts all about LOROS.

I managed the shop previews but then I found out I was having the surgery and everything went downhill.

I dont want to go into detail here but if you head over to my other blog you can read all about it.

For now, I am cutting frocktober short on here, but I will not stop fundraising for LOROS. This month has taught me a lot and I can't wait to carry on and smash my fundraising goals once I am well.

In the mean time I would be so happy if you could head over to My Justgiving page and donate to this wonderful cause!

Hopefully normal service will resume soon.

FROCKTOBER: Why not attend Frock, Swap & Shop Event at LOROS

When this post goes live I will be running around like a headless chicken more than likely, stressing about my Frock Swap event. However the professionals over at LOROS are holding their own event next Saturday (29th) and I think you would be mad to miss out!

With something for everyone, new goods and clothes alongside the finest stock from LOROS own shops, if you want to support the charity without buying second hand clothes you can!

There is also a glass of fizz, and a present for you if you bring along a bag of unwanted clothes, how could you say no? If this wasn't enough you can buy your tickets here for just £5 and they are currently 3 for 2.

Oh and of course you will see me there!

During frocktober I am hoping to inspire people to get involved in LOROS events so please if you do use the twitter hashtag #bloggerdoesfrocktober and also if you would like to donate to the cause you can do here as I am trying to raise £1000 in 1000 days for LOROS

FROCKTOBER: How to declutter your wardrobe ready for a clothes swap.

As I write this, I am sat looking at a huge pile of clothes. Some I know for definate will be coming to my frock swap with me, others I seem to be emotionally attached to, even though they don't fit me or have never really been my style.

Some still have their charity shop tags on. I went through a stage where I would buy things without trying them on and if you read my Charity Shopping tips you will know that I now try everything on but that doesnt make up for my past mistakes!

So how I am tackling this?

1. The Six Month Rule.

Apart from seasonal wear, If you havent worn it in six months donate it.
2. Only bring good quality things

Leave the jumpers with the holes at home. These would still be welcome to a charity shop donation as they can make money from the rags, but for a clothes swap people want good quality items. Think to yourself would you be happy if someone else bought that? Yes, then go ahead.
3. Dont feel guilty for the money spent

Sometimes you hang onto clothes because you feel like by getting rid of them. This is the beauty of a clothes swap, especially when you are going to be having your friends over, because you can swap that item for an item you love even more. At the same time you will be letting them have an item they may fall in love with!
4. Try to seperate emotions

This was a big thing I had to really fight with when deciding to donate my wedding dress. On the one hand I wanted to hold onto this dress forever as it was the happiest day of my life. On a practical level it was taking up a huge amount of space and I will never wear it again. LOROS needs the money more than I need the wedding dress which eventually was my deciding factor.
5. Think of the potential!

Think about it, once you have had your clear out, the more space you make in your wardrobe the more you can bring home from the swap right?

I think the most important thing is that this kind of event is win win for the Charity. As long as people who come are willing to make a donation for the clothes they take then LOROS earns some much needed money. Also any clothes that arent taken from the swap will be donated to the charity which they can then sell. You may be parting with some of your unloved clothes but hopefully you will gain some others pieces to love and feel good for helping out a charity!

During frocktober I am hoping to inspire people to get involved in LOROS events so please if you do use the twitter hashtag #bloggerdoesfrocktober and also if you would like to donate to the cause you can do here as I am trying to raise £1000 in 1000 days for LOROS

FROCKTOBER: You are invited to my Frock Swap event

So! Before I decided that I was going to blog throughout Frocktober I decided that I wanted to hold a Frock Swap. At the end of the month there is an event at the hospice which I will be attending.  After speaking to a lot of my friends I decided to hld my own swap! LOROS are also encouraging people to hold their own swaps. Having mine at home just wouldn't work as I live in a teeny little house in the middle of nowhere

So, I decided to hold mine in the Cookie, a lovely bar, kitchen and live music venue in in Leicester and you can find all the details here but thebasic premise is:

Please come along between 12-3 this SATURDAY (22nd October)

Bring some clothes that are in good condition but you no longer wear

Browse all the clothes that everyone else has brought along

Leave a donation for LOROS

Any clothes left over will be donated to LOROS

Enjoy your new clothes!!

I am really nervous about holding this event as I have never held an event and with my health not being 100% at the moment, but I am hoping that it will be a really chilled out morning and everyone will go away with a great new piece of clothing (or shoes!) and raise some money ultimately for such a great cause.

If you can't attend why not invite a few friends round and hold your own?

During frocktober I am hoping to inspire people to get involved in LOROS events so please if you do use the twitter hashtag #bloggerdoesfrocktober and also if you would like to donate to the cause you can do here as I am trying to raise £1000 in 1000 days for LOROS

FROCKTOBER: the update from an iPod featuring a cosy jumper from LOROS

Long title there right?

We've come to my parents house for the weekend and I have no laptop! I've also lost the will to blog a little bit. After doing too much the last few weeks I feel like I have taken a step back in my recovery. I need the weekend to relax before I get back on it next week!

This jumper I bought from By Design last week on a shopping trip with my girls! A men's river island jumper but it's so comfy and cosy I couldn't resist!

Next week I am going to be telling you all about my frocktober event which is happening next Saturday and also giving you tips on how to declutter your wardrobe ready for a frock swap! I'll also be giving you some little sneak peaks of what I will be bringing to the swap!

FROCKTOBER: The striped shirt

So this is another photo that was taken high on codeine and when it was raining! I am really sorry, that I was honestly going to have pictures taken all over Leeds, Grimsby and Mablethorpe - I had my fashion blogger poses all practiced! But then the surgery happened and I panicked! As Im writing this is it the 12th October and I am not quite on my feet properly yet and am halfway through frocktober! I bought a new outfit from LOROS today for Leicester fashion Week though so I am on the mend!

This shirt came from LOROS on the high street in Leicester. I cant rememeber the exact price but it was somewhere between £4 and £5. It is made from this lovely like stretchy cotton and is perfect to throw on when you want to be comfy but still make a bit of an effort. I originally bought it to wear as a dress but its a little too short to wear without leggings!

Its originally from New Look and a size 16

During frocktober I am hoping to inspire people to get involved in LOROS events so please if you do use the twitter hashtag #bloggerdoesfrocktober and also if you would like to donate to the cause you can do here as I am trying to raise £1000 in 1000 days for LOROS

FROCKTOBER: The Ladybird Print Dress

Ok. Its very obvious I was high on painkillers here! This dress i bought a little while ago in the Lutterworth store. I visit lutterworth semi regularly. Its a small shop but I have always found some great bargains there. This dress was around £5 and it came at the time when I had decided that I would stop trying to lose weight and would just buy myself some clothes that fit and looked nice right now.

Im not sure if you can see from the photos but it is covered in little ladybirds. It was originally from New Look

FROCKTOBER: The lacey dress of my dreams

This dress was one of those that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. I picked it up off the shelf thinking please fit please fit. To my joy it fit like a glove.

I wasnt sure if I would have the confidence to wear the dress but I bought it anyway, costing £4.75 from the LOROS shop on Leicester high street. I love the colour and the lacey detail and can't wait to wear it out.

FROCKTOBER: The Comfy Cosy Me+Em Dress

I want to start this post with an apology.I had all my frocktober posts planned. You see on the 30th September I was starting a weeks holiday (including the bloggers blog awards, a couple of nights in hotels and a week in mablethorpe.) I had planned all the outfits and where I was going to have pictures taken. I also had my friends on board to take pictures. You can read the full details here but last monday I went into surgery and so my plans changed. As I write this it is Friday 30th September and I dont know whether I will be in hospital 1 day or up to 5 depending on the surgery.

However I still wanted to try and show you as many of the outfits that I can from the wonderful LOROS shops, so here goes! Apologise if I look unwell, I am here doped up on painkillers!

Anyway! When I took my blogger friends to By Design, I picked this dress up straight away. A size XL It felt a little big but when I tried it on I fell in love with it. From the brand Me+Em (who I had never heard of before) whose dresses cost upwards of £100 I couldnt resist paying just £8 for this beauty! Little did I know that a few weeks later I would be planning to wear it in for my surgery - at the time I had envisioned wearing it with thick black tights and black boots for the christmas markets I will no doubt be going to later in the year!

FROCKTOBER: £1 Bargain Shops

Todays post is for all you bargain hunters out there! Frequently visited by myself is the Coalville shop, where all clothing is £1. I haven't been for a while as the bus from my village is only every hour and I have missed it too many times than I like to admit, however its one of my biggest successes for bargains.

During the summer I bought an ASOS dress, a New Look dress and a military style coat for yes you guessed it £1 each.

There is also a LOROS outlet shop in glenfield. This one is located on station road where there warehouse is (perfect for dropping off your donations) and again all the clothing is priced at just £1. I need to go soon ... watch this space for a haul during frocktober!

FROCKTOBER: Book Shop

The second shop on the Queens road is the LOROS bookshop which I could quite literally get lost for days in!
Set out like a proper book shop in categories and stocking a wide range of books.

They even have a selection of magazines at the back and I picked up two french vogue magazines on this particular trip for £1 each

When I was there last week I spotted this blogger favourite :D My favourite part of the shop is the children area at the back. Its exactly the kind of shop I would have loved to explore as a child!

FROCKTOBER: LOROS Yellow Day

Today is LOROS Yellow day!

I decided to crack out this sunny yellow dress and as you read this I am in mablethorpe and wearing Yellow for LOROS! I haven't taken part in anything like this since I was at school and used to throw myself wholeheartedly any charity fancy dress day at school (I remember once we had to wear red and white and I showed my teacher the red and white spotty knickers I was wearing to prove I wholeheartedly commited!!)

My dress is originally from F+F at tesco bought recently from ebay and my boots (which you will see in more detail sometime next week) are from LOROS by design!

Joining me on wearing yellow today are these fabulous humans:

FROCKTOBER: Spiral Scratch

I always think of Queens Road as the trendy part of Leicester. Its home to a lot of independent deli type shops and cafes and attracts a lot of students! In the shop that started life as By Design, it is now home to Spiral Scratch. Open Monday - Saturday 10-6 and Sundays 11 - 4 it specilises in selling records and also hosts a huge collection of CDs and DVDs

As you would expect from LOROS all the dvds are in very good condition and arranged into  genres. They even have a selection of foreign films! Funny story actually, not long ago I bought a few DVDs from here and left them on the bus!!

This is just one of the shelves and as you can see it is fit to burst!

They also have a listening booth at the back of the hop where you can try out the music before you buy! It really made me think of the days when as a young teen I would go to Virgin megastore at a weekend with my friend and we would listen to albums in the booths!

During frocktober I am hoping to inspire people to get involved in LOROS events so please if you do use the twitter hashtag #bloggerdoesfrocktober and also if you would like to donate to the cause you can do here as I am trying to raise £1000 in 1000 days for LOROS

FROCKTOBER: LOROS Leicester

The shop on the High Street in Leicester is the one I probably visit most frequently. Right in the centre of town it is easy to pop in for a quick browse. Its where I bought most of my holiday clothes, and I dont think I have ever been in there and not found something I loved. The shop is well laid out and its easy to pick up things as you go around

This basket of shoes is my favourite to have a rumage around through their shoes. Recently I managed to get a pair of joe browns sparkly ballet shoes for £3.

One of the handsome volunters, the backbone of keeping the shops ticking over!

The shop sells clothes, shoes, bric a bac and also new gifts etc. The shop is laid out so well with all the clothes arranged by type and also in size order. I find they always have loads of size 10 and 12 dresses so if thats your size you are bound to find something! If your a 14/16 I have probably bought all the dresses haha
