The 75 Day Spending Ban!

Hello my name is Charlotte and I am a shopaholic.

In fact this isn't the first time I have said this or the first time I have tried to calm my ways. The problem is I always give myself massive loop holes or break it halfway in. I wanted to do a 100 day spending ban but that would take me past my holiday in May and as you know, I have given up diet culture and that means I need some swimwear and shorts that fit my current body rather than the ones I usually buy to slim into.

However, starting today, I am on a spending ban for clothes, shoes, accessories, makeup, skincare etc. I am such a bargain hunter. I buy things because they are amazing value, not necessarily because I need them! So when something runs out I am allowed to replace it, or if my tusty leggings rip I am allowed to replace them but thats about it!

I am not intending to go crazy when this finishes, but I am looking forward to May 1st when I can go shopping for my swimwear and shorts! Are any of you doing something like this? I am hoping to spend the time I would usually be shopping doing more at the gym, more time in the library and decluttering my wardrobe!

I am hoping to have a 25 day and 50 day update.

  1. Hello Charlotte,

I'm Rachael and I'm also a shopaholic, I tried giving myself a budget last year to stick to (£25 a month for makeup/haircare/skincare) and absolutely failed at it!

In all serious I do need to be really good for the next few months at the very least, I have so much to still pay for the wedding and not a lot of time to do it in!

Good luck, I look forward to seeing your updates!

    1. Hello Rachael ... I feel like this could become a regular meeting of shopaholics anonymous haha. The thing is I do have the disposable income to treat myself but at the same time we are trying to save for a house. I know that I dont have luxury tastes but I feel like I have gotten into the habit of buying this and that for the sake of it almost. Anyway we will see how the 75 days go!

  2. This is such a good idea! I could really benefite from doing this, however I feel like I would be so bad and break it, I might have to try it more towards the summer but I will probably just do like 30 days or something! xx

    1. I think I just need to break the habit of buying things just for the sake of it

  3. I am 100% joining you on this. Ash and I are trying to become minimalists and we both keep making naughty little purchases here and there. Consider us on a ban too!

  4. I love the picture of you on this post, it's gorgeous!

I want to do something similar when I move out, I'm moving beginning on March and I will need to be very careful with all my pennies! Not sure specifically what to do yet, but I think it may have something to do with the amount of money I spend unnecessarily on clothes... I do need a clear out too!

    1. Yeah I think like with anything you need to see what works for you and what it is you need to do rather than a blanket ban!

  5. I seriosuly need to do a spending ban too. I spend far too much money on stuff I like but don't really need, just because I like the feeling of spending money. I'll be very interested to see how you get on!

  6. Hell no! I could never do a spending ban, although I've tried to cut back on beauty splurges!
