Let's put it out there, I am not great with money.
I am proud of the fact that I have some money in savings, and I also no longer have any credit card debt, but I am just not putting enough into my savings as I would like to be. That tied in with the fact that I have been off work sick for 6 weeks and my employer didn't pay me my due sick pay for the first 4 weeks I feel like I am in a little bit of a money rut.
I don't feel like I spend a lot of unnecessary money but yet each week I get to payday with not much left to spare if anything at all. I read a lot of frugal living blogs and there are things I want to implement slowly but they have to fit my lifestyle. For example, I work shifts all over the place and sometimes end up going into work very last minute and so its not worth me doing a big shop always as a lot of food tends to be wasted. I am the queen of convenience! However coming into the new year I do want to cook a lot more.
Its sometimes a massive catch 22. The more i work, the more I earn, but then I am so tired I spend a lot on eating out etc. Also I tried a complete spending ban and I just ended up depressed and at home and then ricocheted into a massive spending binge when I finally gave it up!
Anyway from next Thursday there will be a weekly money diaries post with everything I have spent! For the first few weeks its going to be purely observational, and then I will start to analyse my habits and see where I am going wrong!
